Excellent instructions below on removal of Kibaki, Kalonzo viruses. Thank you.
I however had a PC hit by a 'different' Kalonzo virus but which had different infectious files.
- It creates replicas of Word Documents as .exe and hides the original Word Docs. The *.exe files are 117-116KB in size.
- Disables Control Panel, Registry Tools, Task Manager, ShutDown, Run etc.
- First, delete a hidden folder called Pro on C: drive which contains the infecting test.exe. [User ERD Commander CD or command prompt]. [Delete C:\Pro and C:\autorun.inf]
- Delete lsass.exe from C:\Windows\Installer
- Delete csrss.exe from C:\Windows\System32\wbem\xml
Delete smss.exe from C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\applicationdata
- Delete the *.exe files created from the replica word documents [117-118KB].
Reverse the registry changes it has caused by using file-association fixes, Nod32 Registry Recovery Tool etc. The registry changes that need to be made are mainly as with other viruses stated below.
